Prominent politicians with access to classified intelligence briefings, from Marco Rubio to Kirsten Gillibrand, have expressed concern at frequent unidentified aerial phenomena near sensitive military sites.

John Ratcliffe, the former Director of National Intelligence has also publicly ruled out the possibility of these objects being Chinese or Russian technology. In 2021, NASA chief scientist Bill Nelson explained to an audience at the University of Virginia:
